Randy Oneil Naylor

Randy Naylor is an American-Norwegian interdisciplinary
artist. He has exhibited in the Norwegian StatensKunst
Utstilling and VestlandsUtstilling 5 times in 3 different
disciplines. He has won first prize in the Amsterdam Video
Theater festival, first prize in the Nordic Textile Triennial, Artist
of the year Oslo 92 , and Graffils Visuelt 2000 Silver
prize.(Digital Graphics).

Randy is an avid improvised musician leading the Panda Breeding Diary composed from musicians from the Stavanger Symphonic Orchestra. This is a multi-media group featuring digital films, dance and poetry. The group performed the main events for the European Schizofrenidagene Stavanger curated by Dr. Jan Olav Johansson over a 10 year period. Randy Naylor studied at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky (USA) in the Interdisciplinary and Philosophy department.(BA) He took masters class in Environmental Psychology under Mark Francis (Harvard Graduate School of Design). Architecture/Art Theory under Architect Knut Heine Madsen. Randy is the son of W.V Naylor jr. who was the chief geologist of Esso Norway who discovered the Balder Oil field in 1967 in Stavanger, Norway. Randy`s digital series Seismic Dance is a tribute to his fathers work. Creating the form generated digital graphic series “Steps to the Geology of Mind.”

He very early in 1982 introduced an interdisciplinary approach
to Norwegian Art, along with Environmental Mapping, Public
Participation and Digital Graphics (92). This interdisciplinary
art practice resulted in the grand opening installation in Park de
la Villette, Paris (92). A 500 meter public intervention
”sculpture.” Appointed by the architect Bernard Tschumi. He
further developed Social Sustainable Mapping and Participation
with the Skap 10 Project in Mandal Norway( 2010). His
sculpture ”genetics” won the Trans European Halls sculpture of
the month at Tou Scene Stavanger Norway.
